Contribution to My Learning and My Learning Community
Reflecting on my journey throughout this course, I can confidently say that my learning and contributions have been deeply interconnected. Each assignment, discussion, and collaboration has provided growth opportunities as an individual and a member of my learning community.
This course, Resources for Digital Environments, has been instrumental in broadening my vision and guiding the direction of my Innovation Plan. It gave me a deeper understanding of how digital tools like ePortfolios can transform learning environments, making them more student-centered and participatory. Through the exploration of platforms, strategies, and research-backed methods, I have refined my ability to integrate technology in meaningful ways that promote creativity, critical thinking, and ownership of learning. The resources and activities from this course have strengthened my approach and helped me envision more effective and impactful ways to implement my ideas in the classroom.
My Publication Outline extended this learning, allowing me to articulate how ePortfolios promote critical self-reflection and lifelong learning. Drawing from Harapnuik (2018) and Scully et al. (2018), I explored strategies to transform the classroom into a dynamic, participatory environment. This work challenged me to think beyond traditional learning frameworks, pushing me to embrace innovative methods supporting individual growth and collective progress.
In my Publication Rough Draft the article, Using ePortfolios to Improve Reading Comprehension and Foster Creativity in Elementary Students, also deepened my understanding of how technology can enhance education. Writing this article was a reflective process as I analyzed how ePortfolios could bridge academic goals and creative expression. It also allowed me to share practical strategies with educators, encouraging me to contribute actively to my professional community.
Collaborating with colleagues on the Media Project with Mix, Match, and Learn podcast was an enriching experience. This collaboration allowed me to share my ideas and learn from others, gaining insights into blended learning, bilingual education, and innovative teaching methods. These discussions reaffirmed the importance of collective growth and the role of community in shaping effective educational practices.
Through these experiences, I’ve realized that my learning extends beyond completing tasks—engaging with the material, contributing to meaningful discussions, and applying what I learn to create positive change. My team’s feedback, particularly from colleagues like Desiree Lopez, Doyna Johnston, and Angelica Padron, has been instrumental in helping me refine my ideas and grow as an educator.
Looking back, I am proud of the effort I’ve put into my learning journey. I’ve challenged myself to think critically, remain engaged, and collaborate meaningfully. There is always room for improvement, particularly in balancing my time and refining my communication skills. However, my progress reflects my commitment to continuous growth, both personally and professionally.
Final Self-Rating: 90/100
I rate myself a 90 because I have actively engaged in every aspect of this course, striving to contribute meaningfully to my own and my peers’ learning. While there is still more to achieve, I believe I’ve significantly impacted my learning community and set the foundation for further growth.
