When I analyze these talks and theories, which address critical aspects of leadership, motivation, behavioral influence, and organizational change, they offer valuable insights into how to inspire and promote change. I try to connect each one to the presentation of the innovative idea we developed for our school.
In the TED talk “How Great Leaders Inspire Action,” Sinek explores how influential leaders inspire action by communicating their “why” before their “how” or “what.” He argues that connecting emotionally with the audience is essential to influencing behavior and motivating people, hence the importance of presenting the problem we would like to solve in class. This becomes the “why” and, in this way, achieves the interest of the administration to have their openness and attention to be able to present them the how or the what
In the TED Talk “How to change people who do not want to change” by experts in behavioral sciences where, he addresses strategies based on behavioral science to influence change in people who initially resist and explores techniques such as option design, social influence, and incentive management to promote the adoption of new behaviors, he associates it with the importance of presenting examples of educational centers that had positive results by developing a similar innovative approach.
In the Talk “Why TED Talks Do not Change People’s Behavior” by Tom Asacker, he analyzes why TED Talks, despite being inspiring and informative, often do not cause a lasting change in people’s behavior often do not cause a lasting change in people’s behavior. He highlights the importance of connecting with the emotions and core values of the audience to achieve a significant impact on behavior; he connected it with the importance of having a clear goal of improvement that we would like to reach with the innovative proposal.
In John Kotter’s talk “The Heart of Change,” where he explores the essential elements of successfully leading organizational change and highlights the importance of establishing a sense of urgency, communicating the change vision effectively, and fostering employee participation and engagement to achieve positive outcomes, I related it to the way we addressed our proposal, which was prepared for a target audience, in my case the school administration.
As I looked at these theories, I imagined addressing the same structure for any other topic. It became a formula that if we followed it, we would be more successful in our personal or professional projects. I would like to implement this process in any project I have.
